Baseball!

Cardinals v. DBacks

We're wrapping up our trip with a visit to the new Busch Stadium. Great park! We love the view of the Arch from our seats on the left field line. Should be a nice night. Go Cardinals!

It's 21 hours of freeway from here to home. We can't wait to get there late Friday night.

Mammoth Cave National Park

We took a 2 mile tour of Mammoth Cave in Kentucky this afternoon. We walked to a depth of 310 feet below the surface. No crawling, but we did go through some narrow and short spots. The cave certainly lives up to its name with more than 350 miles of limestone tunnels and enormous caverns to explore. The surface of the park is lush and green. Nice spot.

Camping here tonight before heading to St. Louis for the Arch and a Cardinals game tomorrow.

Fireworks

We enjoyed the most impressive fireworks show tonight at the National Mall.

The Washington Monument following tonight's fireworks show.

Washington Monument

Tough day. Andrew is not feeling well. But we've finally made it to the Mall.

DC on the 4th

We started our day with a reading of the Declaration of Independence by Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin on Constitution Avenue, at the steps of the National Archives. The crowd roared in support of key passages. I thought this was very inspiring - Huzzah!

We enjoyed the National Independence Day parade next, and then had a nice lunch near a water sculpture at the National Galley of Art's Sculpture Garden.

Walden Pond - July 3rd

Yesterday, before Nicholas and I flew home, we stopped by Walden Pond for a quick visit. It was interesting to see Thoreau's Walden and his 28$ cabin. The boys enjoyed wading in the pond.
