Civil War

Andrew is learning all about the civil war era in 5th grade. This past month he has been reading like crazy. Here are just a few of the books he has accomplished. The teacher set a goal that each student needed to read over 300 pages of Civil War material. Andrew has past the 1000 page mark. We are so proud of him.

Uncle Tom's Cabin
Chains
Soldiers Heart
Rifles for Watie

Almost forgot! Big news!

First steps. Nicholas took his first two steps on Friday while we were on the phone with Grammy! Yesterday he increased the number to 5 and just now he took 6. Amazing! By the time our Orlando trip arrives he'll be cruising.

Happy Birthday Brenden & Michael

We attended a great birthday party for Brenden and Michael last night. Michael is now three and Brenden is 12. I made simple card tags to decorate their presents. We had a great time hanging with the family. Happy Birthday guys!!!

HipstaPrint cold weather gardening

Got the cold weather veggies in the ground!

This weekend we went to the nursery and purchased a few bare root blackberries, grapes and strawberries. The guy at the nursery suggested we wait a few weeks get more mature raspberry plants rather than the bare root raspberries because we may get fruit this year instead of three years out. I agree.

I am soaked the roots (as recommended by nursery) before I planted.

We planted:

Albion Strawberries (native to Utah)
Red Grapes
Aspen thornless blackberries

And we are got a few cold weather plants for the garden, peas, broccoli, onions & lettuce.
