Geoff helped today and Kylene and Logan came to play with the kids.
The boys absolutely love Logan!

sheetrock is up
All the Sheetrock is up and ready for tape and mud. Dad & Mom are
coming back again tomorrow to help some more. Dad is bringing
scaffling to help us do the vaulted ceiling. There is no way we would
have gotten this far without all the help.

Sheetrock goes up

Insulation returned
Wall insulation has been put back in place. We went and purchased all
the sheetrock and supplies last night. Chris bribed a fellow home
depot customer (who owns a truck) to drive it home fir us. We are
ready to start putting sheetrock up after Benjamin's soccer game. Dad
and and Mom are bringing down their a tools and have kindly agreed to
help for a few hours. With luck (and lots of labor) the sheetrock will
be in place tonight.

Wiring done
Cam (the electrician) worked his magic and completed all the reroutes,
moving and adding of lights. It's starting to take shape and we are
excited.

More picking
Not much I can help with in the kitchen so I'll pick a few more
berries, they are growing gangbuster!

2 carloads of cabinets
Yes it can be done in a subaru and prius! Two carloads of cabinets
made it home and are neatly stacked by cabinet type, ready for
assembly. One at a time a day at a time and it will get done.

Wires!
Hanging wires be gone (hopfully). The electrician comes today to move
and remove the old wiring, also on his list is installing 9 canned
lights and wire for 2 pendant lights above the future bar. Fingers
crossed he can do it all in one day.

Floor chipped out
Chipping out and removing the thin set took me the better half of a
day. The power should be moved today so I can tile.

Slow going
I successfully chipped up the tile that I need to replace and now I am
working on breaking up the thin set and morter, then I clip the mesh.
Once this is complete I should have a level area to tile over. Fun
stuff?

Floor dilemma
We have this great tiled floor all the way to the laundry and I want
to keep it but need to repair 12 tiles from where we removed the bar..
The previous home owners were nice enough to leave us a box of tile.
Perfect I thought until I realized there were only 11 tiles in the
box. Dilemma 1. So I thought I could order tile from the tile company
who laid the tile in 2002. I found out they are out of business.
Dilemma number 2. So I decided to look for a close match at the local
stores but the fancy tile is 13x13 instead of 12x12, just means it's
harder to find a match. Still no luck, dilemma no. 3. And so, after
some Internet research, I've decided to try and chip up a tile that
will be hidden underneath a new cabinet without breaking. Stress. My
attempt was successful!!! The stress of it almost killed me. Now I
need to chip out the half tiles where I need to replace with full
tiles, wish me luck and patience. Today I will also order the cabinets.

A messy job
Chris and I pulled all the blown insulation out of the vault ceiling
this morning and saved in plastic bags to replace when the new framing
is complete. I thought it was a smart, economical and green idea but
it sure was messy. Chris is a good sport and is moving onto tearing
the existing framing out.

First crop of blackberries
I picked the first crop of blackberries this morning, yum. The Ironic
part of this berry season is that there is no kitchen to can in. I'll
have to borrow a kitchen from someone. Check it out, these berries are
bigger than a basketball!

One of the best
Chris and I have discussed it and we agree that Wilco is one of the
best bands we have seen live, and this show in particular was stellar.
First encore of four songs and then a double encore with three more.
The venue was amazing, apologies for the quality of the phone pix.

Wilco Show Tonight
Charlet and I are taking in a Wilco show at the Red Butte Gardens amphitheater. It's our first time here.
This is a picture of the opening act - The Fleet Foxes. Very good so far.

Another view
We are wrapping up for the night and heading to the wilco concert.
We'll start again first thing in the morning. We lined up an
electrician for Wednesday, ouch$$.

Demolition begins today
After today there is no real turning back on the kitchen project.
Chris will tear out the wall and ceiling to open up the kitchen a bit
more. We will also remove all appliances and cabinets today.
